Presentation

The MEAM museum opened its doors in 2011 in the building of the former Palau Gomis, located in the heart of Barcelona, with the mission of promoting and disseminating figurative art, an artistic current that seeks to highlight beauty, the complexity of everyday life and human emotions through the representation of reality.

Through its numerous exhibitions, the MEAM seeks to bring together a wide variety of artistic manifestations in its shows, offering the spectator a rich, plural, real and contemporary figurative sphere. Furthermore, the MEAM's collection is one of the most prestigious collections of figurative art in the world, not only for the quality of the works it contains but also for the diversity of its themes and authors.

Thanks to its rich exhibition programme and the wide range of activities on offer, the MEAM has established itself as a dynamic space for exhibitions, concerts, workshops and international art competitions, as well as a meeting place for artists, agents and art lovers.

MEAM represents a paradigm shift in the museum field, in that it seeks to redefine the static concept of the museum and break with the stigma that presupposes that this type of institution is unattainable.

It is precisely this interest in offering unique and significant artistic experiences that characterises the MEAM, whose trajectory has achieved high international recognition.
